St. Patrick Father’s 3rd annual fashion show highlighted winter fashions and raised funds to support their mission in Chicago and across the globe

In its third year, St. Patrick Father’s “Fall into Winter” fashion show attracted almost 400 people to a fabulous afternoon filled with fashion, fun, food, friends and fundraising Nov.3, 2019 at Meridian Banquet & Conference Center in Rolling Meadows.

“What stands out again and again is the spirit of generosity and cooperation from everybody involved,” said Father Michael “Mick” Madigan, Director of Mission Awareness and Promotion for the U.S. St. Patrick Fathers. The money raised will go to fund various projects in the areas in which St. Patrick Fathers work in Africa, South America and the Caribbean.  “These projects serve the needs of some of the poorest and most marginalized communities and seek to empower them to a better quality of life,” added Fr. Madigan.

Father Madigan offered special thanks for all involved including: the organizing committee, “each member bringing their unique talents and abilities to the task;” the sponsors “who donate so generously;” the various boutiques who “grace the occasion  with their colorful outfits;” vendors with their craftworks and “the generosity of those who donate such beautiful gifts as raffle prizes.”  He also thanked “the table holders who pack the place with family and friends and make it into such a festive and fun occasion.”

“While we can talk of each of these aspects individually, they are in essence threads in a single tapestry of love and support for those who will benefit from the proceeds of the fashion show,” he said. “This is our second year hosting it at the Meridian and they ‘pulled out all the stops’ in facilitating us. They offered ample room both for the meal and fashion show and for the boutique, vendor and raffle display.  The management and staff were warm and friendly yet so professional in the service they offered.  We are especially grateful to Philip Griffin, the events manager for his all his help and advice.”

The Irish Boutique and Bella Donna in Long Grove, along with J. Jill, provided the fashions for the show.  John Kopecky of Country House in Long Grove provided music for the event. Margaret Rose Keating (2012 Chicago Rose of Tralee) was the MC and The N’Yukuleles provided entertainment.

Sponsors included: The Dearborn in Chicago, Murray Law Group, Chief O’Neill’s, Quality Excavation Inc., The Irish Boutique, Flood Brothers, Hillview Custom Homes and The Long Grove Confectionary. Hal A. Lipschutz, attorney, Fairgreen Real Estate, Taylor Excavating, Cooney Funeral Home, Burton Development, Carole Anne Gallagher, attorney, Dunleavy Construction, Gallagher Carpentry and the O'Malley Family.

Organizing committee members included: Mick Madigan and Marion Collins, co-chairs, Cathie Boyle, Grace Bzdawka, Angela Coady, Ciara Collins, Nuala Kavanagh, Kathy McGuinness, Eileen Riordan, Mary Beth Sammons, Mary Theresa Sheridan, Fiona Tanny, Dympna Fay and Mary Ann Fay.

St. Patrick Fathers run their U.S. headquarters and fundraising for their missions on the Northwest side of Chicago at 8422 W. Windsor Ave. It is here, that they also have established themselves as the spiritual hub for Chicago’s Irish immigrants and the greater Irish American community.

Creating a sense of community among Chicago’s Irish is also an important part of what the St. Patrick Father’s do here. The St. Patrick Fathers have also been a lifeline for so many elderly community members through their regular events that encourage socialization and friendship. Many visitors to the Irish American Heritage Center, know the St. Patrick Fathers for the dances they sponsor as well.
