By Phil Coulter
I have been blessed with a large family. In fact, my pal Billy Connolly used to say that it was of "biblical proportions” ! I have nine kids and I love each one of them dearly.

In recent years, we’ve had a bit of a tradition that, as each one was getting married, I’d compose a special piece of music to be performed at the ceremony.
My son Ryan, who is a professional goalkeeper with Houston Dynamo, was the last to tie the knot, at a simple but very moving ceremony in a small church in Mexico.
The local musician who’d be on hand to play was a classical violinist so I composed a very melodic piece which I thought would really sit comfortably on violin. It worked a treat and there was not a dry eye among the Coulters in attendance!
In the months that followed, the melody kept running through my brain and I wrestled with the idea of turning it into a song.
I was still kicking the can down the road when Covid hit and turned the business of music and performing on its head. It just fell off a cliff.

In our determination to keep active, stay in touch with our followers and get the creative juices flowing we grabbed the whole Social Media thing by the horns and started a weekly live event on Facebook called THE LOCKDOWN LOUNGE.
Derryman, George Hutton, sings 'Dear God'
During those sessions I’d invite some of my friends who were singers to do a guest spot. One of them was GEORGE HUTTON, a fellow Derryman and one of the most exciting young voices in the country.
Listening to him sing one day I had a light bulb moment. I would finally get down to writing that lyric and George’s voice would be perfect. I assembled my team and headed for the studio, to do my first recording session in over a year ! The result, DEAR GOD, is available for download on all platforms.
This is very personal to me and I do hope folks will like it.
Words & Music Phil Coulter
Now and forevermore,
One we've been praying for, Willstay
Deep in our memory, Moments to treasure,
Love without measure.
Now and forevermore,
Will be like it was before.
For your hand on my shoulder, Walking beside us,
Ready to guide us,
When we're weary and darkness falls, Your light
Will be shining so clearly.
When we're worried and trouble calls, Your love
Will be holding us near.
Facing the road ahead,
We'll follow where you have led And share
The gifts that you gave us,
Now give us direction
And your protection, Dear God.
Always together, Now and forever, Dear God.
