Commissioner Mariyana Spyropoulos, a proud alumna of Loyola University Chicago, recognizes Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt BVM (popularly known as Sister Jean). Sister Jean is a chaplain for the Loyola Ramblers men's basketball team of Loyola University Chicago and a religious sister of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
After teaching for twenty years in several elementary schools in the Los Angeles Archdiocese, Sister Jean was assigned to the Education Department of Mundelein College where she served until the affiliation with Loyola University in 1991.
Since that time, Sister Jean has been an academic advisor, campus minister on the Lake Shore Campus and Water Tower Campus, and chaplain to the men's basketball team and to Regis Hall residents.
“Sister Jean is an inspiration to all of us and we wish her a Happy Birthday! Cheers to many more!” Commissioner Mariyana Spyropoulos said during the virtual MWRD board meeting on September 3rd.
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) is an award-winning special purpose government agency responsible for wastewater treatment and stormwater management. MWRD's mission is to protect the health and safety of the public, the quality of the water supply source (Lake Michigan) and protect businesses and homes from flood damages.
